1509-STORMY SNAIL TRAIL-IN THE HOOP

Quilt block names, and their origins, is a fascinating study. While I'm having so much fun creating quilt blocks in machine embroidery, it is an added bonus to learn the history of the art as part of the journey.

Storm at Sea is known as a "Bible block" and there are several variations of it. I'm presenting my favorite one for now and leaving the others for a future date.

"...and there arose a great storm of wind and the waves beat into the ship so that it was full." When Jesus awoke, he rebuked the wind, but he also rebuked the men for lacking faith. Why are we fearful? Mark 4: 36-41.

The set includes 3 designs, which are completely pieced in the hoop. After 9 blocks are embroidered, they are trimmed then sewn together on the conventional sewing machine. The embroidery goes fast, as all of the blocks (except the middle block) are small and simple in design. The guidelines make matching the blocks up quite easy.

1509A-Center Block 8 x 8 hoop, design size is 6.5 x 6.5 with 7,000 stitches.

1509B-Corner Blocks 4 x 4 hoop, design size is 3.5 x 3.5 with 3,250 stitches.

1509C-Diamond Blocks 5 x 7 hoop, design size is 3.5 x 6.5 with 4,000 stitches.

Available Formats: DST, EXP, JEF, PES, VIP, VP3
DST format may work if your machine format is not available in the design set.
